    The volume around Windows 10 and privacy has been steadily increasing since shortly after the release of Windows 10 in late July.

    Just yesterday Terry Myerson, the Executive VP for the Windows Devices Group at Microsoft, laid out the companies privacy approach when it comes to Windows 10 plus the company published additional resources to show exactly how they are using the data it does collect from Windows 10 systems and how the user can control it.

    Windows 10 has the most granular level of controls relating to privacy than any Windows operating system before it. There are thirteen pages of settings related to privacy on Windows 10 and the user is able to specify what info is shared with apps and the amount of data that is sent to Microsoft.

    This video will walk through the privacy settings that are available in Windows 10 to help you understand the level of control that is possible.

    Also on a fresh install of Windows 10 don't choose "express" and choose "customize". That way you can turn it all off before Windows loads for the first time.

    Yes very good point and that is exactly what I do as well. You can cut out 90% of the privacy issues if you do it that way and the other 10% you can finish up once in the OS.

    Right down to keystrokes Cindy. Sad no? If I go to a website and it says it needs to track me, I move as I have that garbage turned off at first boot.

    Quite right Ray, there are now several million windows 10 users will be wondering where all the spam e mails, and all the spam adverts appearing in their browsers, not to mention the crap coming through the letter box, is all coming from. Add to that, in some countries such as mine the UK, one mention on line of explosives or weapons such as automatic guns, and there might just be a knock on the door with men in uniform, or even not, asking lots of questions. Big brother is out there spying on us, like it or not.

    I agree with all the above posts. I do hope MS decides to do the right thing and give back privacy to it's customers at default settings.
