Install MBAM yourself rich and run it you will see it's there. I ran the scan when a first installed paltalk. I don't know about you, but my machines are PuP free.

I ran Emsisoft and it pulled up a "pup" of minor consequence last night. I had uninstalled Malwarebytes when I was failing to install Paltalk and now it won't install back in. The only problem I had on Windows 10 was the failure to install Paltalk and the system is now running fine. I am puzzled because I cannot install Mbam at all now. I am starting to wonder if I cannot install anything which is the real problem so I am going to add some programs to it tonight like Partition Master which I never install until I need to use it just to see if installation period is the issue.

I hope you get it working. So far no issues here. If I could recommend something it would be to install it clean, and preferably to your new system. I think you will see a better experience.

Rich wants to do everything his way and guess what, it's not working without problems.:)
Emsisoft is your biggest problem, Rich.

We older techs sometimes get rather guarded about old habits Rich will come around. Emsisoft might have been slow about Windows 10 protection, or overprotective on older programs on a new operating system. Right now I have taken Pete's advice from another thread where he helped someone and I am only running Defender and MBAM non paid. So far everything seems smooth.

I run the same and no issues whatsoever. All my Windows10 computers seem to get faster and faster as time goes by.
Maybe my imagination. I really like Windows 10.

I like it too Dougie a lot. There are a few issues I want addressed though. Namely the default privacy settings to be turned back into the consumers favor (which I tweaked of course), and then the UI I want true Windows 7 Aero back. That is pretty much it. Other than that I am really enjoying Windows 10!

On this one pc it is and its not that it hasn't been before on occasion as well but it is 20% of my business now Dougie and it gives me something no other AV did for me and that is renewals from the clients as well. I have to stay with it as it is also the best software commission in the industry. Nod32 gives you 5% or the worst and Emsisoft has from 50% markup to as high as 75% and the product I tested was also the only Antivirus and Antispyware combined that actually worked both as software and as protection, the way you have to judge an Antivirus. How does it perform as software and with Emsisoft you don't even know it is there and yet it's response is as good as the best NOd32 and actually performs better on "in the wild" tests.

BTW what is wrong with my wanting to do it my way on my pc Dougie? That would be a great subject for a Paltalk night actually as why should I not want to do it my way on my own pc?I know most of my clients do what I suggest because as I said before I see it as mental laziness. They hide behind expressions that they are "computer illiterate" and yet so many of them are not and would be capable of forming their own opinions and I try to get them to do that. Some actually respond well and can do that now. Others well it takes time.

As for my opinion Dougie, answer the question I can't that I have raised several times here and I can change easily, I have always demonstrated that. Show me why I need Windows 10 because it does something better or saves me time on a given chore. Now remember my Windows 7 pc boots faster than either my Win 8.1 laptop or 10 desktop.

Hi Rich. You put too much trust in this AV. You really can't tell how good it is on your system. They are all playing catch up.
I suggest you uninstall completely on while you do the upgrade, then reinstall emsisoft. I don't run Emsisoft and my computers are not full of crap. On one test machine I don't even run an AV only MBAM free and it is as clean as my other computers so don't tell me it's life and death to have a paid AV when the free ones perform just as well.
We are all entitled to an opinion but I think you think it will be armageddon if you don't have Emsisoft on your system.
Don't rely on every test you read on the net. You never know who is paying who.

By all your posts you have not managed to upgrade Windows 10 without a hitch like we all have. That says you are doing something wrong. As I said uninstall Emsisoft and follow the tut upgrade I wrote and you will have a successful upgrade.
You need Windows 10 for your clients. Not all are going to listen to you to wait.

What you are not hearing Dougie is Emsisoft is 20% of my business and if I don't run it I will lose expertise in it so I am not uninstalling it. There is nothing wrong with my Windows 10 system and what your comments don't allow for is hardware differences which are always there and usually account for why programs can't be used. No two systems are alike and no two systems will ever perform exactly the same unless they are the same and even then there are possibilities. The fact I can't reinstall Mbam does not bother me because Emsi is my chosen program now and I am no longer reselling Mbam anyway. I ran extensive tests for over a year with live Malware and I saw the difference in performance between the two and there is no comparison. The one resisting change is you. There is a free fully functional 30 day trial why not try Emsisoft for yourself. With all those pcs surely one will do the job.

Hi Rich. What AV Comparative test are you going by on the net. Have you a link.? I would be interested to read.
I have Nod32 on one machine and never given me a moments problem. Yes I have a computer I could trial Emsisoft.
This computer is 3 mths old with Windows10 on and running smooth and very fast.
    SSD drives help as well.

I am going based on my own testing and I did do a review of it somewhere could have been ExTS or CHF I cannot remember. Every tech I know2 and that is on TSF and Linkedin where I belong to two business owner forums pick Emsisoft as the only Antivirus to own these days. Pete was the one who originally got me into it BTW and I know he is a user also. After I completed my own tests I tested with 3 different Av schemes using live Malware sites along with 12 owners on Linked in ACRBO forum.
The objective was to prove Windows 8 was not any safer than Windows 7. For it I used Mbam, Wot, win Patrol, and Nod32 on 1 pc. The second pc had only Windows 8 native defenses and that one went down totally out of control in under 3 minutes. My last pc had Emsisoft, Wot and WP and that one never went out of control. The first machine also fared well but it was Nod32 repelling the Malware, not Nod32. On the last machine I looked at as the best WOT actually beat Emsisoft to the draw about 1/2 the times but I was able to calmly uninstall everything that got by whereas with the Nod32 pc I came close to losing control to do that.

One thing you have to keep in mind is we are not the average user and good safe surfing habits trump everything. I ran without an Av for almost a year and had 0 infections just by being careful, The only reason I run it now is as I said It is 20% of my income and I need to be able to support it properly. I brought Nod32 to all of us and I know how good it is. I also know in the 10 years I used it and even resold it there were times when the site protection fell apart and did not work. There were often times also where Nod32 updates monkeyed with Quicken and FileMaker software and I didn't give it up because of that I found workarounds, that is the way I was trained.

Thanks for the detailed reply, Rich. I take it all in.:)

I was just reading AV Comparitives June 2015 (Real World Performance Tests) and very surprised at some of the results. Their tests are very detailed Worth a read.

I would be interested in seeing that as VB 100 which was always the place to go for this info I think has been compromised with advertising $. Can't prove it but after all Sophos who is a well known business V provider is the one backing the VB100 tests. Sophos is also the AV in Webroot BTW.

AV comparatives are one of the most respected AV testers on the net. They just threw the chinese AV providor (Tencent) out for cheating.
