LOL don't I know that feeling, I have my Sons Birthday, The Wife has decided she wants us to buy a Car, Christmas, Wife's Birthday, Family Vacation to pay for before I will be able to buy the parts for a new build and live. alternately I could just buy the new computer parts and not live long enough to build it :snckr:

Going with the (perhaps erroneous) assumption that I may not be the only one wondering what AHCI is, I make the following contribution:

After finally finding this dialogue on my Windows 7 Pro 64 desktop, I realized that it is a laptop feature. Just as well.

This one provides a little better explanation on why to do it.
    AHCI vs. IDE

    My latest

    .

It must be the dual processors and 32mb cache trouncing my V'raptor RAID0 setup rating.

I think the Window 7 Experience Index Rating should be calculated by adding the subscores together and dividing
by five to get a true rating. Calculating the score by the lowest subscore isn't accurate...

    I tend to Agree but......

I thought that the idea for it in the first place was so that software writers could just stick a number on the cover, and if your index rating was higher then you know it will work on your system, hence Microsoft's choice in it being the lower number. now I've told you what you already know what I think is they should have included an option for a "Windows Benchmark" which runs the internal components to their max for 20 to 30 minutes to take into account slowdown through overheating, and then gives you an average score :)

    Pssst ! Match ? Over here !....... 3732 PII X4 940 BE Prime95 stable Mhz under my hood. B)

    Now, all I need are some SSD's..... and a Sapphire Vapor-X HD 5870 2GB. ;)

    Eight Gb's of DDR2 1066 wouldn't hurt either.

I think your observations/conclusions regarding the W.E.I. are spot on.

    Based on that formula the scores are;

    You: 7.18

    Me: 7.2

    I must confess liking 7.2 better than 6.1 . :)

Either way, these are ball park figures.

At the end of the day, system stability is what matters most.

I've concluded that I have reached a Motherboard hardware limit, as to
how far I can push the CPU clock speed. The Motherboard will allow a
max. Vcore setting of 1.6 volts. But then I have no headroom when the
CPU is presented with a heavy workload. So 3732Mhz @ 1.55 Vcore it is.

you may notice I don't post mine as the desktop performance for windows Aero is only 3.8 :( but my average is 5.6  but then it is nearly three years old and I get a new system next year :D unless the wife decides that we need a new washer, freezer, cooker, sink, bathroom, bed, carpet, ....... hmmm I might not get it when I want it :snckr: yes I am still talking computers

Well considering that I am using an off the shelf laptop I guess having an average of just under 5 is not to bad. Obviously it is the graphics that is bringing it down.

Accordingly I will just have to rely on graphic languauage instead of graphics, @&$#%#$^&$%@# ! :(

I purchased / installed 8Gb's of Corsair DDR2 1066. It was by no means "Plug 'n' Play". Method / results found here.
This upgrade didn't change my W.E.I. scores. However, "seat of the pants" experience is that my system is more responsive.

Yes let us get this Back into the flow it started, Like I have said many a time and when I do you will be glad I have :snckr: I'm looking at a new system build first quarter of 2011, now at first I thought that 6 Cores had to be faster than 4, lol but I didn't know about the how powerful the i7 980X was but that's just way out of my budget lol but what are your views on this review?

Given my recent experience getting 8GB's of DDR2 1066 to run at its rated frequency and timings with my PII X4 940 BE.
I'm wondering how the 1090T squares with that problem. In unganged mode It has been one stick per core.
That I know of, AMD boards have no more than four RAM slots.
