I keep getting a lot of buffering when watching foreign football channels. My router is a Sky and my desktop is connectd by ethernet cable. There are numerous wifi boosters to pick from so I am looking for one to easily set up. Will my desktop not having a wifi connection mean I can't install a booster for a better experience please?

A direct connection from your computer to the router via an Ethernet cable is the fastest connection available to you.

A booster will only help if you're connecting to a wireless network. Wireless connections are slower than an Ethernet connection.

My TV is connected to the SKY modem by WiFi but the desktop isn't. Does this make a difference or is it pointless getting a WIFI booster?

If you're watching the football channels on your TV, a WiFi extender may help. However, it will only help if the WiFi signal to your TV is weak. There's usually a WiFi signal strength indicator on the TV. If the bars aren't at max, an extender may, or may not help.

The best way to tell is to connect your TV to the router via the Ethernet cable. If the buffering is dimished when connected via Ethernet, then a WiFi booster may help.

Can't connect tv to router using ethernet cable as distance too far apart.

Can you move the TV close to the router for testing purposes?
