Hey guys, I need to do data recovery for this owner's lenovo ideapad 3 81wr000fus laptop. I am guessing the blue tape is covering the SSD drive?

I need to purchase an adapter cable to connect the drive to my windows machine which has EaseUs Data Recovery software, can anyone help me track down the correct connector for this SSD drive please?

That;s what I had thought initially but it's an unpluggable C inside of an A.

It looks like there's a regular USB connector on the end with an adapter to USB C. Can't you just remove the adapter and plug it into a USB port on your computer?

Yes, that is what I had meant. The drive popped up in explorer immediately when plugged in but the folders showed empty. Waiting on Easeus now to see if it will recognize and scan the drive

No. I have no idea why it shows that info. Easeus has recognized and is scanning the drive as normal, will know what it recovers in the morning.

I've got a whole gambit of m.2 adapters. So many keys and so many sizes. I have many because they are hit and miss.

Provided that the computer can turn on, I often use a bootable program that contains File Explorer to get the files and folders. I do everything to avoid data recovery programs, because for a couple of reasons, they don't work very well. Recovered files are typically unorganized, unlabeled, convoluted, and corrupt.

Other options in such a case are booting to a Linux distro.

Hey Seth, it's been some years, nice to cross paths with you again. :) Yes, I am aware that recovered files can be unorganized, unlabeled, convoluted, and corrupt. in my experience however, most of the drives which come my way are unhealthy with physical issues and have bad sectors. So in that case nothing can be done except to take to a lab?

Also, if wouldn't mind sharing, can you tell me about the "bootable and file explorer" option please?

If there is physical damage, then a lab is recommended.

I'll PM you regarding the bootable USB flash drive, because it also contains a tool that is against the rules.

The data recovery worked with this adapter guys, thanks. Seems the drive is good. I have blanked the password so he can get in now and will advise him to leave as is.
