Hello, I started up my computer today and all of a sudden my screen has permanent red lines. I didn't do anything the night previous to screw with the settings, so I'm not sure what caused this. My computer screen will not go into 1680 x 1050 resolution anymore either. I tried uninstalling my graphics card, and then reinstallig it and updating the drivers to no success. Now when I click on my NVIDIA settings icon it tells me You are not currently using a display attached to a NVIDIA GPU and cannot even go into the games I use to play. The red lines are still there when I boot into safe mode also. I even tried to watch a episode of a TV show and it won't even show the video, just a black screen.

I'm using a HD Gateway monitor using the VGA input, and have a Windows Vista with a NVIDIA 9800 GT graphics card. I feel that maybe my card has died on me maybe? I'm not sure, but any help would be appreciated.

Hi kristopherkd. Welcome to Computer Help Forums.
Try another monitor first and see if the lines still show.

    Hi kristopherkd,

If you dont have a spare monitor you could plug your current monitor onto the onboard graphics see if that comes up with the same error.

Do the red lines come up when when posting to bios?

It could be one of the pins is bent on either end of the cable, this would cause the maximum resolution and the red line issues

Hi guys, I tried hooking it up to another monitor and the issues remained the same. I took it to a computer service center and it turned out my card was artifacting and had to be replaced, which I did. Thanks for all the replies!
