Lately Verizon email over and over wants email username and password re-entered. on both windows 7 and XP laptops. Used to just click OK and it was fine. Now server won't allow email. I could just retype it but would like to know why this is happening and if I am doing anything to cause it. The XP PC is 12 years old but the W-7 only a few years. I have cleared the Firefox history "everything" but that did not previously seem to cause this. any ideas?

The error message is saying that your password is wrong. Verizon has been moving email accounts over to AOL servers. I see you're using the PPO protocal. That's the same thing I'm doing with Verizon. It's been working fine until today. I sent an email out early this morning without issue. I tried sending another email later on and received a message that the server connection was interrupted. I think they're having problems today. Maybe it'll be resolved later on.

btw: Maybe there's something going on. I can't get to Staples office supply this morning. Maybe it's just Staples' site or a DNS server somewhere.

OK. Guess it is not my fault. I did read that Verizon is transferring email accounts to AOL servers but I thought they might have decency to advise me if that is what is going on. Was afraid that clearing History or getting viruses may cause it but ran cleaners and an online virus scan with nothing found. I already have prepared for this by getting a few gmail accounts, email client, and Thunderbird for when my webmail free guest accounts stop next month.
Actually it has happened before but then OK later on.
Also having trouble with Verizon TV closed captions on the Delaware ME-TV stations Verizon channel 2 and 502. Somedays there, some days not, sometimes only one, some days only the other. TV station blamed Verizon when I emailed them. Getting so anything Verizon is some sort of trouble. Anyway, thanks for the input.
Helps to know i am not the only one.

You should receive a notice from Verizon about the migration. The migration allows you to keep your @Verizon.net email address. However, the servers change. For some reason, I haven't been affected so far. Also, it seems those accessing email via POP protocol aren't seeing the change.

Anyway, I think Verizon is just having an issue or two today.

My daughter received a notice about the change to AOL about a month ago.
I have several clients that just got notice of it recently.

Now it works on XP OE6 but not on WLM W-7. But the gmail account does work on WLM...just not Verizon. I have Verizon because I already had phone and wanted not to have so many different suppliers. But I really do not like Verizon-just tolerate it. I have received no notifications but I will probably stop using it anyway, except maybe when it works.

Hey ! Even if I DO type it in, it STILL rejects it and ask for it again ! Meanwhile, gmail is working fine.

I have a elderly client he is 92 he uses Verizon email luckily his house keeper helped him (with a phone call to me) haven't heard from him so I guess it worked.I had a Verizon email but I hated there email client so I never used it I just let it go.I didn't want to use another email client either so I just closed it. I agree with BGBG I am not a fan of Verizon but I try to tolerate them cause I really dislike Comcast more.

I'm the opposite: I distrust Comcast a little less than I distrust Verizon!

Someone in her mid 80's got a notice several months ago about switching to AOL if she wished to keep her Verizon email address. Fortunately a nephew opened a gmail account for her and must have transferred the emails she wanted to keep.

I can't even believe that AOL is still around.
I was shocked when I discovered that Verizon switched their mail client to AOL.

I've set up only one Verizon user who migrated to AOL using Thunderbird. I had no issues doing that.
When moving from the Verizon server to the AOL server, you do need to create a new password.
If you go to mail.aol.com, can you get into the user's account?

Forgive me if this sounds repetitive but I still think Gmail and Thunderbird is a much better solution.

Problem with moving to gmail is that you have to export your contacts from your current email address and then import them into gmail. Can be done, but more steps. I don't know how you would be able to keep your old emails.

I think IJAC can get thru this. Something is just not exactly right. You know these computer things, they have to be exactly right.

Note: I bit the bullet and moved to gmail some time ago. Quite happy there.

I moved to gmail also and I like it the only thing is like Tony said bringing the contacts over. I was lucky I had them on my phone and they synced up.
