I have a windows 7 64bit Dell laptop several years old. Is it a good idea to upgrade to windows 10? Is it difficult or expensive to do so? Have never upgraded before and do have other computers, mostly desktops although my wife has a windows 10 laptop. I simply do not know what to do. And scared. Any help is appreciated.

You have to create a bootable USB drive using the Windows Media Creation Tool. It's pretty straight forward. Pick up an 8 GB or greater capacity USB drive and follow the instructions at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

The upgrade will give you an option to keep your files and apps. You may run into a problem with any printers you have in use. Some older printers may not work with Windows 10. If you have old programs, they may not be compatible with Windows 10.

I suggest that you back up all your files before updating to W10.

So I guess I will just use it until it does not work anymore? Then smash it up. Maybe that is best for all the computers.
