i have xp on 3 pc's and with the support ending i want to upgrade. my question is to what 7 or 8. i see some problems reporting on 8 so im wondering if 7 is the way to go. also i have seen downloads for free but i really think it must be a scam. Is it possible to get it for free? or should i buy it on cd? also could i install on 3 pc's with same cd?
ive reinstalled xp several times over the years,is upgradeing basicly the same thing? how do i know if my pc's are capable of running 7-8?

    thanks:suzzie

    Hello there

If I had that choice I would go with Windows 7, also you need to have a User License for each computer that you load it on. and yes you can use one dvd for the load as long as you have a key for each computer or a License pack for 3 computers. I found a 3 pack on New egg for $409 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116993, But I think you may find a better deal on the web. I hope I helped some.

Do a search for this item on eBay as the auction may be over by the time you see this post...but you can do 3 upgrades for Windows 7 under $200 with one disk. They have to be clean installs but you can do that by installing the first as trial with no code and then upgrading the trial install and code will work that way on all 3 and yes its legal.

As for commenting which version of Windows, I remain a bit gun shy after having been accused wrongly elsewhere of starting a "jihad" against Windows 8. So let's just say that decision is personal and leave it at that. However no such 3 pak exists for Windows 8 as of yet so you know. This is the best price I have seen on Windows 8 one license from someone I know will ship it to you and not run off with your money:

A question worth thinking about is that as Dragnet mentioned, firstly will Windows 7 or 8 run on those older computers and will either of them run at their best?
Regrettably the older the XP machine is, the less likely it will be fast enough to get the best out of the newer operating systems. Worth thinking about a reinvestment in new computers rather than have older machines struggling to work.

    just my two pence worth.

Yes I heartily agree with Nev and Dragnet here....the first thing we should have asked is, is the hardware good enough for Windows 7 or 8.
    I completely missed that myself.
