A pop up window keeps appearing every time I start my computer. It is headed "Apps Manager" and wants to "install all extensions" in my" Twitter Account". I do not have a Twitter Account and would very much like to get rid of this nuisance permanently. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

    Hi
Sorry to have taken so long to reply but I have been busy with other things. I have downloaded and installed Malwarebytes as suggested but it did not detect or recognise this pop up as malware. The other two programs were flagged up as being unsafe by my antivirus program (AVG) so I have not used them. The pop up is still appearing but I think it only appears when I am using Internet Explorer and Google, I'll try Google Chrome for a bit and see if that makes any difference.

    Hi Arthur

Is it AVG or is it Windows that is giving this message?
The reason i ask is that on some Win8 systems, the Windows Security does this.
Does the message look like this?

    25661e16d4998b13082ea89485756ae8.png

If so, when the message comes, click on More Info.

Now on the next screen click on Run Anyway.

If it is AVG that is giving the message:

Certain embedded files that are part of legitimate programs or our specialized tools may at times be detected by some anti-virus and anti-malware scanners as suspicious, a Risk Tool, Hacking Tool, Potentially Unwanted Program, a possible threat or even Malware (virus/trojan) when that is not the case.

When flagged by an anti-virus or security scanner, it's because the program includes features, behavior or files that appear suspicious or which can potentially be used for malicious purposes. Compressed and packed files in particular are often flagged as suspicious by security software because they have difficulty reading what is inside them. These detections do not necessarily mean the file is malicious or a bad program.

The problem is really with the anti-virus vendors who keep targeting these embedded files and NOT with our tools.

    Hi,
It was my anti-virus program AVG that flagged up that the programs were unsafe. Using Google Chrome has made no difference the pop up is still appearing. It seems to appear some time after the computer has been running with just the broadband connected.

I would uninstall AVG and work with Starbuck. Remember you have Malware onboard and Avg can't see it or remove it so its value, is really nowhere.
Frankly there are better out there with less system drag to be used anyway which Starbuck can help you with when you are done.
