Hi, I am have a problem with my desktop. It has frozen up, but not entirely. I can mouse over the icons, and see the outline.. but when I click on it, nothing happens at all. I have a small window of just a few seconds when it starts up that I can open a browser or program, then it will do nothing more. This happened a couple of weeks ago, but a restart fixed it. I have restarted today several times, and it has not helped. I did run a anti spyware scan yesterday because it seemed slow, and deleted 263 problems, but it was fine after that.. The program was SuperAnti spyware. I was also able to do a system restore this morning, also that did not help. Now it is restarting I think, but has been frozen on the please wait... screen for at least an hour.
Our computer is a Acer, running Vista. Thanks

    Hello and WELCOME.

Try starting in Safe Mode. Do that by tapping the F8 key when your computer starts. You should get a special start menu. Use the keyboard arrow keys to select Safe Mode. Then hit the Enter key.

When it starts, some things like your Internet and printer functions won't work. Also the screen will probably look larger than you're used to. Don't worry.

Let us know if you still experience those problems in Safe Mode.

When you restart your computer, it will boot normally.
