I have a computer with win 7, 16 GB of DDR3 Ram, about 400GB of free Space, Core i-5 2400 Processor.

    Network Hardware:

DIR - 657 Router (D-Link Router, Not Hooked Up, But I want to use it)
Bell Modem and Router (First in the network chain)
    https://support.teksavvy.com/posts/608610-user-manual-sagemcom-2864/public
    Two DGS - 1008G (D-Link 8 Port Switches)
    - One cat 6 cord to a switch to my roomates pc from the router
    - One cat 6 cord to the other switch to my pc

Two DNS - 320 (D-Link Nasses(I think that is the Plural of Nass))
    - Both connected up to the switch that is connected up to my pc

Now I have set up albit not sure if correctly https://www.dlinkddns.com/login for dynamic Dns

I have shared files via a torrent that were too big for email.

But what I want is to be able to just have my friends and family, who are not at the same location as me eg across town. To be able to either access files I put on my nas, or if I am able to share hard drives on my pc.

I would prefer a webdav solution sorta like I have a permanent address they type into their web browser that connects them to me, they type in the log in and then they get access to my nas or hdd and nothing else and then they either take what they want or upload to it depending on permissions I have in place. Or it is set up like I have my nases on my home network, it just shows up as a HDD in my computer at their place and treated as such.

I have tried own cloud but I am not sure how to get past the server address since I do not have one.

I have tried dropbox, skydrive, and googledrive, but none have the flexibility or space I want. But essentially they are exactly what I want just more space and hosted by me. As far as I am aware the nasses can do it themselves. I am just stuck, I can not seem to get past the part where I give them the dynamic dns website that dlinkddns gives me they get a log in screen and then they type in the username and password and it keeps on saying home and then nothing wrong log in even tho it is right. Then they click cancel and it says not authorized.

You haven't told us what type of files it is you wish to share. Are they text documents, images, or video, etc?

Dragnet has made a good suggestion in Logmein, this may well be one possible solution for you. Here's a link...

    LogMeIn

Another option (Depending on file type) would be to open a Flickr account. Flickr accounts are free and offer 1TB (One Terabyte) of storage. This can be either images or video. Privacy settings can be set as you please, and this would include allowing other people to download your files.

Note: Files uploaded to Flickr must be your own property!

You have said that you have already tried Dropbox...This of course would be an option for smaller files such as text documents. (2GB of free space)

But for total freedom the thing to do would be to have your own website and pay for as much bandwidth as you need.
Sadly, there's no such thing as a free lunch..

from the looks of it and I may be wrong. The pro version does what I want. It will allow others to view shared files, and download them from my pc, when they want to. I do not have to do anything but put it there. I do not want to have to transfer it for them I just want it to be available and have them take what they want if any of the files. I do not want to have folder sync like drop box more like it is there and can be taken from the cloud drop box type of service.

It would be video, music, text and trust me it would be more than 2gb. I would like to host it myself. As my nasses do have the ability to host remotely. But since I have an ip that changes every time the wind blows I can not share it as I want it. I was wondering if there was a way around that with out going to a business account where I need to pay 25 dollars for a static ip. I plan in the future to host a website off of it as well. But once again unless I have a static IP I am S.O.L.

    I would like to ask will this change the external ip address as well? My internal one never changes. I am sorry if I am being a pain in the donkey...but I know you can not get what you want for free. But sometimes you can. From the looks of it so far either I need to host it on my pc and use the nases just for my local network or I will need to cough up some moulah >.<;;;

    I found this

    http://www.noip.com/services/managed_dns/free_dynamic_dns.html

What do you think? It is another free ddns service. You instal a client on your desktop that tracks your external ip address and updates it on their site so they know what your current external ip address is for the ddns server to point to when people access you.

What that would solve is my current problem of my always changing external ip address, and once again it is free. With the option of paying later for more customization eg custom url. Then I would have a permanent ulr provided by the service that always knows what my current dynamic ip address is.

You need to test it for yourself and see if it fulfills your particular needs.
Maybe another member knows more about this software.
You said you wanted a free Static address (no moulah) and I gave you one to try.:)

Yes thanks! But after I had posted that I installed it and tried it but it is only showing my internal ip. It says it is static but I restarted the pc and modem and it gave me a new external ip but the internal one 192.168.2.14 stayed the same as it always has. >.<;;; It did not seem to work but my internal network is now static too! Thanks tho!

I got it working finally haha thanks guys and gals (maybe not sure over the net but covering my bases anyway!) I got it working to a point. I would not work if I set it to update automatically but it does work if I set it to port 80 redirect. I have it pointing to port 8080 and portforwarded port 8080 on my router to port 80. It now works exactly as I want and I have both my nasses up. The only thing that does not work is that auto update of my ip address. Which should be ok as I work from home. So I can ask my family to let me know if it goes down. all I would need to do is update my external ip. I wanted to avoid that but so far that is the only thing that has worked. But thank you so much!

Also to add you can have up to three hosts per account. So per say you want like me to have all of your nasses up to three on one account for free.
