    Hello everyone,

I want to reformat my entire computer and install a fresh copy of XP. I have already installed XP on one of my two HDDs, what should I do?

    I have done this:

Tried to install XP on the second HDD and format the first one, but the original windows folder wont go away with format c:, I believe its because of some read only files, I want to wipe everything, how can I achieve this the best way possible?

Here's GavinO's Old Family Recipe for a clean Windows install:

-Boot to a command prompt, either from a boot disk or your Windows CD.
    -Start FDISK
    -Delete all of the partitions
    -Reboot
    -If its Win95/98/Me:
--Start FDISK again and create a DOS partition for the entire drive
    --Reboot
    -Enter Windows setup.
-Allow setup to partition/format the drive. For WinNT/2K/XP, select 'NTFS' as the partition type.
    -Continue setup as normal.

Clearing out the partition table insures that you don't get any random surprises later.
