That's the number of screws I had to remove to take the bottom cover off of an HP laptop.

That’s a good deal, but not a record. Last week I did an HP Envy 17 with 30.

Here I was thinking that 23 would have to be the record.

This one is an Envy as well, and very heavy. It's probably envious of light laptops :)

Because the large screen on the Envy 17 requires a large bottom section, they probably needed more screws to cover the larger surface area. Too bad they undersized the hardware required to hold up the 17" screen. There were 9 screws holding the two display hinges to the base. 5 on one side and 4 on the other. All but 2 had busted out the metal inserts from the plastic turrets that secure them to the bottom case. Most of the turrets had broken apart.

I was able to glue most is the plastic/metal inserts back together. I use JB Weld. There were three that couldn't be repaired. I secured those hinge points to the base using screws thru the top case. IJAC showed me that trick.
