Hi, I had a scan through to see if this had been posted before but didn't see it, Anyway i thought it would be a nice idea to have a Thanks Button/Tab fixed into a post so it can give people an easy way to say thanks and also it would be nice to show on the thanked persons profile or under the Avatar.

Idea would be good for moral and to be proud of the thanked status also to be viewed by others.

Personally I think the people who work in these forums do it because they want to help people, I know I do. I dont need a Thanks button or anything under my avatar but like I say thats just my opinion.

This subject has been widely debated in private by the staff here and the final decision was that it might lead to competition between members in trying to accumulate the highest number of thanks, or what ever other button we added, we also felt that this would be, or could possible be detrimental to the quality of assistance that is offered to a member

Most of the staff here are just happy to know that a members issue is resolved and they have a working PC, Yes it is nice to get a thank you, as well but we decided that if a member wants to do that then they can just make a thank you post in the thread,

we also had a similar debate over the solved button, as most people will post an issue on 2 or more forums, on most forums they get up right and righteous over doing this, but as we don't own another persons computer or issue all we ask is that if they do this they let us know so we can follow what's happening in other threads, the only time we get upset is in the Malware removal forum, where the experts have spent a lot of their own time learning the subject and to have two or more people trying to remove the same infection is counter productive.

but Yes back to the solved button, quite often a member may not let us know the problem is solved, which could be counter productive to someone else with the same problem trying to read through the thread, although their best course of action would be to start a new thread regardless.

but in fear of waffling on and on about months of debate I'll just say that most forum features that are missing from this one, are missing for a reason :) and that includes the donate Button :D

We shouldn't have to have anything like this, ever.

Your satisfaction in knowing you helped a member fix their Computer, should be just reward.

If the Member posts back and thanks you in a post, then that's a Bonus. :)

    I'm Confused now

When I was promoted to Administrator I thought it was because I was the only one Silly enough to accept it

Now you say Don't be Silly, so does that mean you Don't want me to be an Administrator any more :snckr:

This started as a serious topic by Bugsy and yet again Barry (accompanied by dog in hat) has confused the issue.
Poor Match doesn't know where to turn.
I can see the tears forming from here. He is obviously putting on a brave face by adding the sniggering smiley - but I can tell that he is really upset.
Match - if it helps - I think you are silly.
Barry - I think you are silly too.

If you have to be silly to be an admin - then by definition ....I am silly as well :snckr:

    I never thought otherwise.

As for the topic being serious, it was but then Match provided the answer. We have gone through all these things before and came to the following conclusion. I, like Bugsy, would like to be thanked if I have helped. BUT being thanked by pushing a button means nothing to me. If someone goes out of their way to actually say "Thanks" either to me, another member or the forum in general that is worth something.

As i previously stated but I will reword, someone thanking me in a post is very nice but not expected, someone pressing a thankyou button means absolutly nothing to me.
