It's for sync'ing email accounts. Not needed anymore now that IMAP protocol is available.

If I do not need it that is fine for I do not know how to use or what to do with it anyway.

I have on Outlook Express 6 a verizon AOL POP3 account and an IMAP gmail account. Is there a way to turn off the Sync box since it is not needed? It appears if I click the account name imap.gmail.com or Local Folders which is the Verizon default account. Of course if I do not click these names it does not appear but is there a turn-off? I did click "Don't Synchronize" for each folder but would like the box not to be there.
