Those mostly effected by this are XP users who only have Service Pack 2. Service pack 3 has been around for a long time now but got a bad name for a while. As a result many people have uninstalled it or not downloaded it at all. Any flaws in SP3 have been long since corrected. I would suggest that all XP users not only get SP3 but also check for critical updates as soon as it is installed.

If you are using Vista I believe there is only one Service Pack available but if you have not installed it you will be in the same boat as XP SP2 users but the support will drop off even sooner.

Sorry, I never had vista and thought there was only SP1. However, it seems Vista with SP1 only will not be denied support.
