Stuck on update

Discussion in 'Windows Update' started by rm2h@yahoo.com, Sep 25, 2009.

  1. I am stuck at the 1 part of the 3 part update at 60% done. The
computer states that I am not to shut down the computer until it is
done. It has been hours that it is at this point. Can someone tell me
what I need to do to correct this issue?

  3. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I am currently in TN and I know
that the last time that I did an update was in CA before 9-11-09.

I am unable to give you the service pack number since the laptop is
stuck at stage 1 of 3 with 60% completed since the early afternoon
    today.

If it never finished, a reboot or three should get you back to normal.

Then check your system for malware and reset your update components and try
    again.

Download, install, run, update and perform a full scan (separately) with the
following two applications (freeware versions are the ones to use for this):

    SuperAntiSpyware

    MalwareBytes

After performing a full scan with one and then the other and removing
whatever they both find completely, you may uninstall these products,
    if you wish.

Download and run the MSRT manually:

    Reboot.

How do I reset Windows Update components?
