So anyway..., I was using the msconfig startup manager to turn off some things I didn't need so that my computer could boot up faster. I think I might have made a silly mistake and turned off an important application I need to start my computer. The computer starts up fine but as soon as I type my password into windows it just shows a black screen and just stays that way. I currently run Windows Vista Home Premium with my Toshiba Satellite. I've tried booting the computer in safe mode and it didn't seem to work. Could someone help me please? Thanks!

    Hi and welcome to CHF

There is nothing in msconfig > startup that would stop your machine from booting up.

Is this a desktop or laptop ?

Can you get to Safe Mode with Command Prompt ?
    If so try this:

At the prompt type ...............rstrui.exe .......ENTER
    This will run System Restore.

Select a date that is just prior to the start of your problem.
Files / data / photos will all be ok.
