[Solved] solved

Would it be possible to add a "solved" notice to let everyone know that the post is completed to the OP satisfaction.

 

well that's kind of crappy.....but alrighty then.

 

I'm a MOD and I see no Solved under Thread Tools so it must be Super moderators that can only access it.

 

You have to go into Thread Tools, Edit Post and open the drop down menu at head of the post Ray.
This software takes some getting used to and I am actually proud I can help someone with it finally.

 

Yes "Edit Thread" and when you click that you will see a drop down menu in the subject bar.

 

Even if a thread is marked "Solved" the originator can have it opened again by PM'ing a staff member.
Sometimes the problem can come back bit later down the track.

 

I see it know, but for a forum upgrade thing, the old style works much better in my opinion.

 

None of my business, but isn't this a staff thing. I don't see Thread Tools!
Maybe discus all this this in the next staff meeting so members and visitors aren't confused !

Yes it should be staff thing though users can also close their own threads as solved on most forums as well so no reason they cannot do it here.

 

I see no way to mark a thread I created as solved. As already stated by @umar "Yes, this feature is available, but only mods can mark topics as solved." Once again I'm thinking this should be discussed in a staff meeting!

 

You should be able to do that I will have to take a look at the permissions.

It can be abused. That's why only staff members have access to prevent this happening by default.
I strongly oppose any changes.
The member can pm a staff member to mark the thread solved.

 

I see no way to mark my threads solved. I really see no reason to mark them solved! If staff wants to mark them solved, I have no problem with that!
If @umar says it's a moderator privilege, then that's good enough for me!

 

Maybe it's time a Mod marked this thread Solved!

 

I see only one reason to mark a thread solved. That would be to show anyone viewing that thread that it has been solved, and therefore no reason for further replies. Is there another reason that I'm not aware of??
