    Hello!
I was asking on other places, but I`m gathering the different opinions.
I`m working in the middle size business. We`re looking for shared storage I`m considering what iSCSI solution is better if compare of price and functionality - software or hardware? And what vendor is more reliable?

I always lean to hardware. It might cost more, but, I would rather have a drive go bad and you pop in another and don't lose a thing.

Thanks, but I don`t really think that software so unreliable. Maybe it`s just a question about vendor?

ASUS - are there any others worth buying?

    Samsung - all the way

You have to plan for worst case scenario, IF you are using hardware and as BSchwarz says the drive goes bad, you replace the drive and away you go.
With software if that went bad then you lose all the data you have, and then you would have to use that software again knowing that it didnt work the first time.

In case if hardware component will fall you will lose all data, and there is no metter if you are using software iSCSI or hardware.

The concept of shared storage is, among other things, to insure that nothing is contained on a single drive. That would defeat the entire purpose.

I`ve devided to use software iSCSI solution - it`ll be cheaper, and it`ll work good in good hands. So the only thing is left is to find reliable vendor. Anyone can help?

After my researches I've made decision to use StarWind 5 (with HA support). It seems like it is the most reliable and easy-in-use product of all.
