It is part of Adobe Reader.
Open up Adobe Reader and under settings turn off - check for updates.

I got rid of Adobe Reader a long time ago so I can't post a screen shot or tell you the exact location.

Doesn't matter - never use it anyway. I found Acrobat Reaer and opened it. Can't find any "check for updates". How do I get rid of it?

You can easily uninstall Acrobat from the Windows Control Panel. (If you're having trouble uninstalling it from the Control Panel, use the Acrobat Cleaner tool.)

    1. Quit Acrobat if it's running.

    2. Open the Run command box - press the Windows key and the R key.

    3. In the Run command box, type Control Panel and press OK.

    4. In the Control Panel, select Programs > Program and Features.

    5. From the list of installed programs, select Adobe Acrobat and click Uninstall.

    6. Click Yes in the confirmation dialog.

After Acrobat is uninstalled, restart your computer.

    Hello,
After I removed my old, old version I found I did have things that opened with it so to be safe I downloaded the latest version and installed it.
I installed Adobe Acrobat Reader I believe and after I removed it I realized I had things tht opened with it so I downloaded the latest version and installed it. Hope I did it right. Guess I will find out later when I need or want to use it.
But why is it not listed in my programs list??? Maybe I have to restart the computer. I will check tomorrow morning to see if it is listed after I start up.

I THOUGHT I downloaded Acrobat Reader but now I cannot seem to find it anywhere. Nor can I find anything it would be needed to open. I just found an Adobe Acrobat Reader shortcut in the Program files(x86) which says the shortcut will no longer work and do I want to delete it.
I do not believe it wass even downloaded or installed. I can find no files for it and it says its folder Adobe Reader is empty. How do I fix this?

I suspect because you are using a 32 bit computer (taken from your first post where the x86.exe is at the end) and this is a message about a 64 bit process.

Did you try to install something that was 64 bits in a 32 bit computer?

Maybe after I tried to download and install the Adobe Acrobat Reader. I do not recall if t is 32 bit or ot. but I believe I do have a 64 bit computer. I never thought about that. I just went to download and downloaded and tried to install it but Cannot find it anywhere. I have forgotten how to check how many its it is but have always thought it was 64. I just went to adobe acrobat, dowmloaded, and installed it. Now it seems not to be here.
I just R-clicked Computer, selected properties, and it says it is a 64-bit system.

I am not sure the Adobe Acrobat 64 bit is FOR Windows 7. I tried a download but I think it was for 32 bit. The download stes say 64bit is for Windows 10 and 11 but not 7.

The 32bit will work on Windows 7.

Whatever it is I downloaded and tried to install I cannot get it to work. What do you recommend I do? Maybe I did not install it correctly or did something wrong. Not sure what to do now. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Had it for years and never a problem.

Scroll up to post #7 where I gave a link to a lean program that will install and work on 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Windows 7. I know because I have 3 - 32 bit Win 7 computers and 1 - 64 bit Win 7 computer and I have had this program installed for years.

Thank you. Maybe I will try this. I have always HAD an adobe acrobaat reader just in case something needed it but never really used it a lot. Only when needed. I believe whatever version I had may have expired or become unusable. Have not used it for a long time as I recall.
I have posted a file showingthe computer info which does say it is a 64bit PC. See uploaded file. Maybe I will try the sumatra application you mentioned to see if it will open anything I may have. And perhaps I did something wrong in my rapid attempt to download and install something for whatever I tried to do did not seem to work.

I don't have Adobe Reader installed so I can't help you with that.
Sumatra is much smaller and opens lots of files besides pdf so it is very useful.

If you don't want to install it...Sumatra was designed for portable use, as it consists of one file with no external dependencies, making it usable from an external USB drive, needing no installation.

    I found and copied this:

You are using Reader not Flash. There is no flash in Adobe Reader.
