I have Motorola Surfboard SBC 6580 router, 2 years old. All the lights have always been green, on steady. A few days ago, the send and receive lights turned blue, on steady. The computer is HP pavilion 400, with Win8.1.
We had lots of problems setting up the wi-fi initially. Printer does not print from the internet. Printer is Brother MFC - J470DW. I tried calling our service provider, seem to get the run around. No time for that. This is a home set up, we also have 2 Android phones, a pad and laptop to use the wi-fi.
I looked up in the Motorola user guide to see what the blue lights mean. "receive, locked onto multiple bonded channel" Send says, "connected with a non-bonded up stream channel" The tech at provider didn't know what that means, nor do I. Can anyone help us? I uninstalled the printer, re-installed it. No change. I unplugged the router, no change.

Basically what that means is, you need to reset your modem.

If the channels are overloaded, a DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem can bond multiple channels together to provide one big pipe. That way, even if only a little data can get through each channel, bonding them together will allow you to push that data through multiple pipes at one time and thus work around that congestion.

To reset modem, is to unplug and plug it back in. Have done this several times. No change. Or am I to use pin on hole in bottom to reset everything, including password?

Yes, the pinhole is the reset button. I usually use a paperclip.

Our cpu shows the wifi light, as does the printer and router. We cannot download anything from the net. We cannot print anything from the net. I tried to download the router user guide, no go. I can't print our bank statements from the net. I took router and cpu into repair shop last month for check up. Silly things keep happening. I thought it may have malware or something like it. Tech ran 3 programs and checked it out. Says all he could find was a "possible malware" a "download helper" and removed it. Turns out, the "download helper" comes with the software for the printer. I uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it 3 days ago. No change. I'm not as familiar with Win8 as I could be, but I see things happen that shouldn't. I can't figure why the printer doesn't work like it should, it's new. We got the printer shortly after the cpu and both are now out of warranty. Purchased March and April, respectively last year. We didn't have any issues whatever with router when it was connected to computer with XP. Router is 2 years old, and wasn't cheap, almost $200. I would expect it to be working still.

Win8 was installed, we have no disc for o.s. I did make recovery discs. Perhaps we didn't do some settings when we got it?
Just tried our printer, to copy, it did work, now it turns out blank page. Jeeze, how frustrating. I just don't know what to do to fix these problems.

If it is going through the motions of printing but pages are blank then it is out of ink (or the cartridges are dried up which is the same thing). Have you checked with your isp to be certain your service is working properly?
