I am curious as to what exactly can happen if one uses an un-updated or old browser and OS online. Like W98, XP, Vista, etc. and unsupported browsers. Always wondered just what is possible or likely to happen.

Hackers create software that scans the internet for people using vulnerable OS's, especially XP. (Similar to all those robo calls generated every second to call hundreds of numbers in the hopes the scammer will get one sucker and his money.)

Every hear of zero day exploits? With XP online, your system has unknown numbers of zero day exploits that will NEVER be patched.
