There used to be a way to say NO SEARCH SUGGESTIONS. Now when I type a list of suggestions appear. I cannot find an option called NO SEARCH SUGGESTIONS. Anyone know how to stop the suggestions or if there IS even a way anymore???? Maybe ad different search engine. Although I was using DuckDuckGo before.

What steps did you take to try to make Google your search engine in Chrome?

3 dots, Settings,Search Engine, Search engine used in address bar On Right, chose google as search engine default from drop down menu. Says it is default but address bar still says DuckDuckGo.

Sounds like you did things right.

You may still have Duck Duck Go as your Home page.
While in Settings, click “On startup” in the left-hand pane. Look to the right-hand pane. What is selected in rather On Startup area?

"OPEN THE NEW TAB PAGE" is selelected when I click "On Startup". There are two other choices underneath the selected one I stated.

To turn off suggestions in Chrome (I don't have Chrome installed on my Windows computers so I can't check the steps)
    1. Open Chrome and click on Settings
    2. A new tab will open; scroll to the bottom and select Advanced
    3. In the Privacy section, make sure “Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar” is not selected

You might have to clear your history to clear what is currently stored.

I do not see this option. It DOES say Google Chrome is default browser.
I will have to study all these options more closely.
Or maybe use a different search engine.

I have a shortcut to duckduckgo.com AND another to google.com. I tried the Google one but I sill did not see this option.
Maybe I will just use the Google shortcut to be sure I am in Google and retry. Just to be sure I am where I think I am.

Actually, whatever I do it keeps saying Chrome is my default browser. And nothing I do seeems to turn off the search suggestions.
