Does anyone know of a Screenshot program that eliminates the need to constantly go to the Paint program and then assign a name to save it to a jpeg. file before taking another shot? ...I am looking for something that can take a few shots of several images and then retain them for later viewing.

Nothing is included in the download, John. It's perfectly safe.
Try downloading it using Internet Explorer.

Hi John, if you still see a problem with Snagit downloading or installing you could try this one. I used it for years when still on XP

    http://www.mirekw.com/winfreeware/mwsnap.html

Since it is both an older program and some time since I last used it, I cannot be sure it will be free of bundled junkware. However just check during installation for ticks or check marks to remove, and if given the option of custom install, use that option as that is where you find the tick boxes to be cleared.

    Nev.

I have used SnagIT for years and have it on all computers. Nothing even comes close.
Cindy put me onto this free version and have had it ever since.
All depends where you download any program from.

Thanks for the Snag it link Folks, I have downloaded it and also used it several times, only one problem and I don't know if it's something with my computer or snagit! but on some websites it tells me it can't take a screenshot of the image, and I have never seen that happen with my Print screen Key and Paint program method.

I have used SnagIt! for years and have never come across that problem before.
Can you give the links to the sites that you are seeing this on, please?
I'll check it out with my SnagIt! program.

I tried downloading the free version of "SnagIt" using Firefox or IE. Every time i tried downloading, "SnagIt Printer" will hang up. I went to the snagit web site & they state that snagit & Adobe Reader, version 11.0.06 will not operate properly without a modification. I'm using Adobe version 2015.009.20077. Any suggestions?

I never use the SnagIt! printer and I never install it.
Do a custom install and uncheck the printer. You don't need it.

Eureka! It's working great! I also removed the check marks for updates. One more question...When i'm copying text using my black/white laser printer everything looks good. When i copy a b/w or color image i get some horizontal & vertical lines on the paper i'm using. I'm presently using cheap "copying" paper. If i were to purchase better quality "computer" paper would the horizontal/vertical lines be minimized?

I don't know, N3. I've never had that issue with it.
I know that Dougie also frequently uses SnagIt, maybe he might know.

It doesn't matter what screenshot program i use, i get similar results on images. I will get paper specifically made for computers & see if there is a difference. Also my b/w laser printer may not be the machine to use for images. Whatever the case thank you for the information concerning the "SnagIt" program.

I use "Snagit" daily and works great with any OS. Just not the printer as Cindy said.
Amazing what you can do with it once you learn how to use all it's functions.
Even simple things like grabbing a Birthday image off the net, I can add any border to the image and add text to make the Birthday image that much more personal. The options are endless. Love Snagit.:)
