I have forgotten how to save email addresses where you type the first letter and the rest fills in. Can anyone tell me how to save the email address? I deleted many that I never use - now I wish to save one. I am using gmail.

I am in "COMPUTER HELL ! My gmail is messed up so it goes to inbox showing if I try to log inor open. Cannot get the Inbox addition to go away. If I retype and try to use it autocompletes and shows inbox. Trying to fix this. Unsuccessfully so far.

I do not know how to remove these posts or to get my desktop Gmail icon from showing the /mail/u/0/#inbox ending which allows it to open with inbox showing. Any ideas on what to do? Have tried several quick restores with no success. I do know there is another posting section for email issues.

First: delete the shortcut that is not doing what you want.
    Second: start here https://www.google.com/gmail/about/
Click on sign in and enter your gmail username and password.

When I click my old icon it adds on the following: /mail/u/0/#inbox
It never used to do that. Now I am afraid to delete the bad icon for I usually go to inbox anyway when I open it.
If I delete it I am afraid I will not get the shortcut back once it is gone. No idea how or why this occurred.

This thread has gone off-topic. What are you trying to accomplish?

All of a sudden when I click the gmail desktop icon it adds the above ending and opens with inbox. No big deal. I start by opening inbox anyway. And though I began this thread in the Windows 7 I then looked and saw there was an email forum topic which I began to use instead. But for years I opened Gmail without this extra ending and now I do not know how to get it back like it was. I tried several quick restores but that did not seem to help. I only want to have a shortcut on desktop that when clicked it will open G mail and NOT the INBOX, or other topics, just like it did from the start. Now whatever I type in it adds the last part and starts with inbox open. Each topic seems to have its own unique suffix. Just want it back like it started.
I began this email thread before I looked and saw there WAS an email topic section in the forum. Sorry for my mistake. I was just used to going to the Windows 7 forum I guess.

When you open gmail, if you don't want it to go to your Inbox, where do you want it to go?
It doesn't make sense to me to open gmail and not have it go to your Inbox.

Maybe you are right. I know this sounds strange but I have not made a shortcut icon on desktop for at least 20 years or more and now I seem to have forgotton how to do it. If I delete the gmail icon how do I create a new one. And maybe I will not change it but leave it as is for there seems to be logic in what you say, but since I began gmail it has always just opened and I had to click INBOX or whatever in order to open them. It has NEVER BEFORE opened with inbox contents showing. It just started doing that one day and I knew not how to fix or change it back. Maybe I have somehow had it wrong all along and never knew it? Or maybe it DID and I had forgotten. I THOUGHT it had opened and there was a choice and I had to decide what to open. I will check the ther computers and see which way they open gmail. It just seemed different at first.

Just please tell me that the opening of gmail starts with the inbox already showing and I shall believe you and forget it. I must be going nuts.

Yes, that's how it works. If you go to gmail, it will display the Inbox.

I should have known this but I have been failing at so much lately I was not sure. And when you said it would be strange NOT to open with the inbox showing I knew I was wrong but I believe it was more FEAR than KNOWING. Anyway just forget it I believe I was mistaken and fearful.Thank you.
