I am looking for an internal SATA port multiplier and have zero interest (sorry) in RAID (use Acronis). Obviously from the way I am framing this question, storage is not my thing. Briefly, my computer:

    1) ASUS M4A79 Deluxe with AMD Quad-Core 3 GHz.
    2) 8 GB RAM
    3) 1K watt Ultra X3 PS
    4) 10 1TB HD's (internal and networked)
    5) OS: Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit

All I need is more SATA ports inside my Case (CoolerMaster HAF 932). Although I always try to buy the biggest and the baddest, in this situation I am only looking for more SATA ports w/out degradation of Seek/Access speed in my HD's.

Sorry for such an infantile question. I am hoping, perhaps in vain, that someone can suggest a bottom-line look-at-these-products conclusion.
As many of you know, such SATA multipliers (internal only) can vary considerably in price. What I need is reliability. I don't need system crashes or hard drive conflicts, both of which are common in these cards, though I believe with those who are using them for a RAID configuration. I will not.

    Much appreciate,

Why not go for external enclosures connected via sata to the box?

No matter where you put the drives, as long as they are connected to a sata port even if it's through to an external box, you'll get the same performance.

As far as cards go I would much rather prefer connecting to the native MB ports than to even the most expensive sata card.

Thanks much for the informative reply. Btw, I'm kinda guessing that BS does not mean Bachelor of Science.

Did think about doing it your way, which is probably better; but did go ahead and buy the "Promise Technology 4-PORT Serial ATA SATA300 TX4 Controller". In the future if I continue to get all crazy with storage I will buy a stand-alone HD case (wrong wording).

One thing I like about your reply is that you are Blunt Force In Your Face Direct. I like that. Saves time. PC is a waste of time. PC =/= personal computer.

I dont agree with Schwarz on this one, I prefer to use add in SATA cards as opposed to the MOBO ones BUT it does depend on the cards themselves PCI are good, but I use PXI-X ones on my servers, they are supermicro cards and they offer blistering performance I have an 8 port PCI-X one that I sourced for £8 retail is £200+
It supports every kind of RAID and is bootable.

I also have some cheap and cheerful 4 port silicon image ones that were about £5 and again are bootable, On older MOBOs where you want to expand from the very limited SATA options, I have a socket 754 MOBO that only has 1 onboard SATA1 port, so I wouldnt use that over an add in SATA2 card

I am not sure whether that reply was intended to be funny, rude, critical or whatever. I am giving it the benefit of the doubt.
