Safe downloads for free games?

I'm not for one minute suggesting the endorsement of copyright theft here, but would like to know if there's anywhere that offers free and safe downloads of old games?

I'd like to download Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, and have found a few that seemingly offer it - Softronic and Cnet being a couple - but I don't know if these are legit, or even if it's the full game you would get (as opposed to a demo).

Also, being on Windows 7, I understand RCT3 won't run properly, but a bit of digging reveals some debate. Many say they can't get it to work on W7, while others say they had no problem.

Anyone shed any light on this?

 

Steam and Origin are 2 well known gaming sites (I use them both exclusively for PC gaming) for gaming. They offer all new games and some older games, even some of those are offered for free.

I know PC gamers swear by Steam, but their games are ridiculously overpriced in my opinion. £4.79 for the original RollerCoaster Tycoon?? £14.99 for RCT3??

 

Well in my case I wait until the Holiday sales, then the games are ridiculously low priced on average.

I suppose to be fair, 'free' games don't exit... at least not legally.

 

Just like you would buy a nice DVD (if you watch them) on sale, the same goes for games. You simply pay for them. That is the moral - ethical, and responsible thing to do.

 

The better software always costs money. Why? Because support costs money. And because you don't work for your employer for free
and neither do software developers work for their bosses for free.

 

Sorry guys my bad but i'm just referring in the caption above. Yeah you're right Rich-M Better software cost money.

 

Nothing to be sorry for just as long as you realize the difference.....there are some free programs I use all the time and love but the vast majority are missing something and if you can do without the something, well then use it. Also remember there are many sites with free programs where there are "donate" signs, the old internet way of showing support, for the programs you actually use to help them support it.
