I am looking at running dual monitors from my Alienware laptop (2 monitors plus laptop screen).
There are 3 USB ports, and 1 HDMI port. Graphics card is NVDIA GeForce GTX 770M. With an Intel(R) HD 4600.
I am at present running 1 monitor via the HMDI port.
What do I need to do in order to accomplish adding an extra monitor?

Mikey - hello and welcome. If you do a search for USB to HDMI you'll find adapters. I suppose one of them would do what you want (assuming you have monitors with HDMI connections). Have you looked into any of those?

I have tried a USB/HMDI. The type with the built in driver but again they don't work for some reason, even after installing them. What about the USB laptop docking station from Amazon?

Strange that the USB/HRMI adapter didn't work for you. I haven't tried one, but you'd think they should do what they're advertised to do. I can't talk to a USB laptop docking station, but I'd think if the USB/HDMI adapter didn't work, the docking station won't work either. That's just my $0.02.

A hdmi splitter will basically split the signal..... not really useful as both monitors would have the same display.
To run all the monitors separately you will need to plug the monitors into the outputs available on the graphics card.
I run 3 monitors from a ASUS GeForce GTX 960 graphics card.

As you can see it has multiple outputs, but the recommended is only to use up to 3.

Do you think you can run monitors off of USB ports (via USB/HDMI adapters) and have each monitor displaying different screens?

So if you have 3 USB ports, you could run 3 monitors - each with it's own USB/HDMI adapter?

Not my field at all, but I can't see how you can run separate monitors without running them from the graphics card itself.

In that case, I'd say that he's stuck with what he has.
If there's only one HDMI ... then only one monitor can be run.
If there's a HDMI and USB-C connector , then he could possibly run 2 monitors.
Like i say.... this isn't my field, I'm only going on my personal experience.

@8_Ball ... but that is going to show the same on both monitors.
It won't give 2 different displays.... it's the same signal going to both monitors.

You use the adapter to get two diplays from one output and then use miltimon for outputing seperate images/apps (whatever) on the displays.
