Hello all. This might seem to trivial for a new user to post this but I can't find any link that suggests the rules for Forum usage. I did read them when I was signing up but I think it would be great if we can have a separate link for this so that we can quote them whenever necessary. Sorry if I am asking for too much. And if there is one existing link, then I would be very grateful if someone could kindly redirect me to it. :)

    All input is appreciated.

Uh oh, I think I gave you a preview of my pschyic capabilities. :D

I am no one to comment on what should be included and what not but if I get a brainwave, I will surely put it forward.

you are infact a Junior member here that gives you the right to make suggestions and to comment on how you would like things to be here,

we aim to run this forum in a way that aJunior Member is no less important than the Owner/Admin, and as at the moment the site is being rebuilt nows a really good time to pass comment or suggestions on what you would like to see here :)

OK, it should have the usual rules for civil behaviour, restrictions for copyright and illegal materials, and a P2P policy in place. But as you know, I have a liberal attitude towards P2P softwares, so I tend to like some exemptions from it. However, you can keep it as you see fit.

There are some more minor tweaks that might be able to improve Forum image but I will post them when asked for. I don't want to sound too critical. :)

I believe that your view of p2p is consistent with most if not all of the staff, Goku. Subject to final approval by the owner we intend to simply not give support for P2P, will recommend its removal if we feel it is part of the problem but have no intention of shutting anyone down simply because it appears on their computer or even if it is the cause of the problem. At least that is my view and I think it is shared.

    Indeed, as Wolfey pointed out,

The link to the rules, or what there is of them.. is at the bottom left of the screen,
Below the "Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread" bar and above the "Similar Threads" bar

    :)

Yes, that was exactly what I was looking for. However, pardon me, but they appear a bit vague. I am sure you all will be able to detail them in a while. :)

Those rules are really just default rules and not our own. Again, your input is appreciated. Did you note the P2P comments?

Yep and I am really pleased at that. You see most other Forums turn back such requests at the door and they have their reasons. But, such members still need help and therefore might flock here when turned down from the rest. One's loss is other's gain. :)

Oh, and make sure you type the rules yourselves as it will give you a better understanding of what you wanted to express and will give you the ability to make a firm decision should an anomaly ever arise.

OK, here I go again. I see the need for a newsgroup on the Forum but I am annoyed at the forced nature of their subscriptions. It would be better and more organized if the Forum yielded only the Forum posts when a search is made and exclude the newsgroups. I know this is picky but trust me, navigating the threads and seeing which threads are answered and which are unanswered is a big problem. Also, the confusing headers of newsgroups add to the difficulty.

Please let me know if there are any workarounds this.

I can do that. Stay tuned for an option in usercp to block them.

It's a done deal. Head to usercp and edit options. At the bottom you can select which forums to exclude.
