I started with windows Internet Explorer and went to a few others, then to Firefox, then to Google, then to Chrome for some reason. Not saying it is Browser's fault but I have been having trouble with Chrome now on my Windows 7 Laptop and have changed to Microsoft Edge which seems good so far. Can you recommend a browser that is supported by my ancient Gateway Windows XP Laptop? Whatever I was using before it says no longer supported by XP and I was wondering what I could change to if any. Thanks for any suggestions. I now have my Dell laptop with Edge and unsure about the XP which may have had Google or Chrome. I use gmail on both.

    Comment:
    • MS Edge is the replacement for IE
    • I use Chrome as my default browser
Both on my Win7 Pro 64bit desktop rig. :)

    To add to Cindy's reply....
Microsoft's replacement for Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, is only available on Windows 10.
There's no way to try Edge on Windows XP.
Most alternative browsers have dropped support for Windows XP as well.

Starbuck I may have been dreaming but I thought I read somewhere they were going to offer it on Windows 7 way back when. But that is all done now since windows 7 has no support unless your company pays for it. I was just thinking out loud .

I installed it because nothing else I had was working. I had Google Chrome but was having some sort of trouble getting it to work. I liked it and may try to return to it. First my saved passwords all disappeareed then I couldn't connect to internet, my desktop display was messed up and the tray shortcuts would not work maybe because they are internet shortcuts and would not work. Finally got it all right again and I plan to try Google Chrome again.

MyPal, the browser you installed on XP also works on Windows 7.

The new Edge isn't the same as the old Edge, the MS code was dropped and Edge is now essentially a reskinned Chrome with a MS twist. Can be done in Windows 7 but why bother W7/8/8.1 isn't so secure anymore unless you are a a vigilant security type. I use it and don't have any major issues just a few quirks like Netflix radio buttons not working as they should (pause-exit-play etc) whereas Chrome is always good.
