    Hi Snape.

Go to http://Crucial.com and run a scan.

It will recommend the best ram for your Computer.

You can't put DDR3 Ram in a DDR2 Slot. Different dimensions.

If your not sure what to click on to run the scan, just ask. :)

I must mention that Allheart is possibly a lot more believable than Crucial at the present moment. Allheart has no doubt researched the motherboard where the correct details will be listed.
I mention this because my present Packard Bell, (read Acer for that) came with 3GB of RAM, I decided to upgrade to 4GB with two sticks of 2GB where originally it was one of 2GB and one of 1GB.
The crucial scan told me it was DDR2. A good job then that I decided to open it up and remove the 1GB stick to check, and also as something I could take to the local dealers, it was DDR3, so also is the 2GB stick.
I purchased another 2GB DDR3 and all is OK, If I had believed Crucial I would have been stuck with a useless DDR2 stick.
It is the first personal incidence of finding Crucial to be wrong, but not the first time I have heard of them being wrong.
I mention this not just for your benefit snape, but also for others who will read this at some time in the future.
If there is already some RAM in the machine take a look at the label it should say what it is, possibly in the order of GB, DDR number, then the speed.

    Nev.

If there is any question concerning the results of the Crucial scan, you can always
double check it against Speccy by Piriform. You can download Speccy here .
After you install Speccy, select RAM from the menu to the left. See screenshot
    below.....

Stick around long enough and you will learn that there is little point in not taking allheart's word on things. :snckr:

Don't assume that because it's a socket 775 CPU that it takes DDR2 RAM, there are boards that I have used for people from MSI
The 790GX-8D and the P45-8D that take DDR2 and DDR3 (AMD)
And the Asus P5KC P35 (Intel) which takes DDR2 and DDR3

Without the ACTUAL mobo you are educated guessing
