    Hi Guys

I really hope someone can help me as im really at a loss here.

I have a brand new MSI 24GE 2QE 4K-005EU All in One PC.

Now the problem i'm having is some programs are freezing and then say "Not Responding" even when i boot up the programs within seconds they simple freeze and then that not responding message comes up, i have refreshed windows 8.1 back to factory settings but i am still having this problem,

I have checked to see if the programs are compatible with Windows 8.1 and they certainly are so i don't know why it is doing this.

    The specs are:
    Computer Type PC/Desktop
    System Manufacturer/Model Number MSI 24GE 2QE 4K-005EU
    OS Windows 8.1
    CPU Intel Core i7 4720HQ 2.60 GHz
Motherboard MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD System Model MS-AE6C11
    Memory 16GB
Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
Sound Card Realtek High Definition Audio
    Monitor(s)Displays All In One
    Screen Resolution 3840 x 2160
    Keyboard MSI StarType E5500W
    Mouse MSI StarMouse SW130
Hard Drives 2TB Hard Drive 2 Partitions 1 with 237GB which is the C: Drive and a D: Drive with 1.79 TB space
    Internet Speedhttp://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4926620842
    Browser Google Chrome
    Antivirus AVG Internet Security 2016

So the specs are really good so i am really at a loss at what the problem could be i have made sure i have all the up to date drivers as well,

1 other problem i have with this is that if i watch a video it glitches like mad sometimes as well, it settles down after a while but i still think this shouldn't be happening with a brand new AIO with these specs am i right?

I hope someone can help me as i think i am at breaking point and really don't fancy sending it back especially with it being Christmas and being very unlikely that i will receive a new one before Christmas as i need it for work as well.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all and look forward to hearing from you.

Of it's only one particular program, uninstall it and then reinstall it.

Otherwise, it sounds like it may be the memory. Can you pull the back off to get to the memory cards. I think this has two memory cards. If you're comfortable with doing so, pull one of the memory modules. If you're not comfortable working inside the computer, don't attempt that because you can damage the computer.

If it was a normal pc tower then i dont think that would be a problem but ive never done it to an AIO one before is there anything i can do software wise to check the memory is working correctly?

You can run MEMTEST available here http://www.memtest.org/. The download links are near the middle of the page. You'd burn it to a disk or USB drive. Then boot your computer to the disk or USB drive.

Problem is that MEMTEST doesn't always catch small issues. You may have to run it for several passes. I once let it run overnight to finally catch a problem similar to yours. I don't know how many passes that was, but it was a lot. In that situation, the computer would crash when running a certain program. I guess that program addressed a portion of RAM that had issues.

Ok maybe this will help you, Ill use the elgato software as an example.
So when i restart the pc as soon as the desktop comes on i open the elgato software and it works fine but if i left it for like 3-4 mins then opened it once it opened i would have the "Not Responding" message.
    Hope that helps

heres a little update, i thought i would take a shot in the dark and again we'll use the elgato software as an example so what i did was i booted in safe mode and replicated the issue exactly the same way that i would in normal mode and in safe mode it works perfectly fine i dont get that "Not Responding" message at all even after leaving it for around 20 minutes in safe mode so its a mystery.

Thanks for the update on Safe Mode. You can see that GameCapture is hanging in your log file. There are other errors in that log file also.

Here's a program that I often use. It tries to identify crash issues. Don't know how it does with applications that hang. It's called WhoCrashed. Available here http://www.resplendence.com/downloads You'd download and install it. Fire it up and click on the Analyze button at the top left corner.

I'd still like to see the RAM pulled, one stick at a time to see if that makes a difference. I think your machine has two RAM modules.

If you think it's something that runs in Normal mode but not in Safe Mode that's causing the problem, you can go into msconfig and turn off Startup items to try and find the offending application.

There's nothing listed in that WhoCrashed log. I know it works well for crashes - wasn't sure about system hangs.

In the notes about why there may not be crash dumps, http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed_dumpnotwritten, one thing of interest is your page file. If you don't have a page file the dumps won't be written. Here's a little blurb from Microsoft about how to configure your page file. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-virtual-memory-size#1TC=windows-7. I like to set mine to Let the system manage it.

I'd still like to remove one RAM board at a time.

Hi mate thanks for the reply again is this link above right as it takes me to "Change Virtual Memory Size" and doesn't mention anything about a page file so was just double checking.

Still a little nervous about doing this as its an All in one and havent removed the ram from a AIO before.

You seem to be in the right place. Click on the Change Virtural Memory Size. That should take you to another window where you change it to Automatically manage the page file. Before making that change, tell us what it's currently set to.

    That looks good.

Since you don't want to mess with the RAM, we can look to startup items. Mentioning this because you said it runs fine in Safe Mode. We'll do this using msconfig. To get into msconfig, hold the Windows logo button and press R. This will bring up the Run box. Type in msconfig and then click on OK.

Once there, click on the Startup tab. You can turn off everything except for your computer protection applications. Click OK and restart your computer. See if you still have problems. If you don't, then one of those items you disabled was the cause of the problem.
