Microsoft was updating my Windows 10 last night. I may have turned the computer off although I don't really remember. Next morning when I moved my mouse Microsoft was just finishing up the update. Then suddenly a shield with yellow and blue colors and an orange flashing background appeared on my task bar. Now nothing I tab on the task bar will open and I mean nothing. I can't even tab on the left square to find files or turn the computer off. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I looked at everything in the task manager but did not see anything obvious.

Greetings Randy822 and welcome to the site.

When you click on the shield what happens?

The Flashing Shield means that there is some thing that needs your permission to preform some type of task. Minimize all the open windows then try clicking on the shield.

Nothing happens with either left or right click.

    Randy,

    3 things:
    Have WD do a scan.
    Run Malwarebytes
Do a System Restore to a date when the Taskbar was proper & normal.

Report back w/ results, please. Thanks.

Prob won't have a System Restore point in Windows 10 if it hasn't been configured.
Windows 10 does not automatically set restore points.

    Hi Randy.
Also try this and see if it helps.
CTRL-ALT-DELETE, then go to Task Manager and end the task that says "administrator"

True... I took too much for granted. Raises a good point... (Everyone) DO configure Sys Restore @ the onset of using a 10 machine.
