My OS is Vista Home Premium. My printer is HP Deskjet F380 All-In-One. I changed my ink cartridges the other day and although my printer still prints OK I am getting a red flashing light and a big E on the printer itself. I have tried shutting the printer on and off and disconnecting and reconnecting the power source but it still shows. Any solutions?
    Thank you.

It sounds as if you need to reinsert the ink cartridges as one of them is showing as empty.

Thank you, Allheart55. You are in the ball park, I think. Initially, I think that's what happened and I inserted two new cartridges. The 'E' and the flashing red light disappeared but came back after a couple of printed pages. Still prints but the error isstill there.

Have you since tried removing and replacing the cartridges?
If so is the error still showing?
Try gently wiping the contacts on the cartridge and the cartridge carriage with a soft dry cloth.

If all of the above does not resolve it, there may be a problem with the flexible cable to the cartridge carriage, the only cure is a replacement cable, and that needs to be done by a technician if the printer is worth spending that sort of money on it.
I had a full failure on a much older HP all in one which was due to that cable, they don't last for ever as they are continuously being flexed as the print head moves from side to side.

Thank you, Nev and all who contributed to resolve this problem. Looks like it was a faulty cartridge. Replaced the cartridge with another one but problem still there. Replaced the one I just installed with another new cartridge and all works fine now.
