Here is a challenge. I tried to download from irs.gov a i1040gi.pdf instruction book for 2014. It downloaded but I had to close down before could save to PC. Since then, every time I try to download it gives me the above message. I found however I could download on the W7 PC and my brother can also download. Is there something in adobe stopping this from downloading? Looks like it might be trying to open an existing damaged downloaded pdf instead of downloading a new one. I do have the file but would like to learn whay this PC doesnt seem able to download yet others can and will.

What version of Adobe Reader is on the pc that can't do it? Is this Windows XP machine?

Your problem is you stopped before saving the file as a pdf file so the cache on that browser keeps retrying the messed up transaction. You can either cut the cache on the browser you are using (delete Temporary Internet Files on IE) or tell me what browser you are using and I'll tell you how to cut the cache, or the easiest way to complete the download is try another browser that you haven't used for this download like Firefox or Chrome, they should be able to complete the new download attempt.

To answer question it is XP SP3 and adobe reader 11.0.08. I didnt read all this yet but it seems I did start download then stopped in middle to change from Mozilla Firefox browser to IE 8 Browser because was confused by "save page" in Firefox as opposed to Save As in IE8. Wasnt sure how to save the whole thing. So even though dont actually have the file it must know it started and was interrupted and wont do it again. But knowing that doesnt tell me how to fix it if it needs fixing at all. Will never need to download that particular file in future. I dont need the file but would like to get it 'unstuck" on this download. I didnt think to delete the IE cache though did delete temp internet files and restart without improvement. I could try deleting the cache and completing download with Firefox if it will. I will do those things first and let you know.

Going to Firefox, finishing download, deleting cache & history worked. Now it is OK. Must remember that. XP machine D.O.P. 3-6-2005, Gateway 7320G I believe.
