Outlook Express

I don't find outlook express in my vista premium or office 2007.
Where is it or how do I find it?

The Outlook Express that came with earlier versions of Windows has been
replaced in Vista by Windows Mail.

You will not find it as Outlook Express. It is now just Mail. It is
exactly the only redeeming part of Vista. But still has issues...it is in
fact Outlook express.

The new version of Outlook Express, the one which comes with Vista,
has been renamed, and is now called Windows Mail.

Office is irrelevant. Outlook never came with Office and still
doesn't.

There is no more Outlook Express for Vista. Download Windows Live Mail. Its
free, and its better than the Windows Mail that ships with Vista.

I think you may have misspoke. Outlook is included with all Office 2007
suites except for Home and Student.

Outlook comes with Office XP Pro, and Office 2003 Pro!

Where is Outlook Express?


Outlook Express has been replaced by Windows Mail, an improved e-mail program with
enhancements such as junk e-mail filtering and protection against phishing messages.

Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button , clicking All Programs, and then clicking
Windows Mail.

Yes, of course. Sorry for my typo. What I meant was that Outlook
Express (the subject of the message) never came with Office and still
doesn't.

OE was replaced by Windows Mail, it's not included with Vista nor Office.
Office came with Outlook, not Outlook Express.
Outlook is a much better/more powerful program than OE, but it's not free.
To get 'similar' functionality, you can download Windows Live Mail from MS,
it's free...and it allows you to access Hotmail, which OE won't do real
soon...

I am not a happy bunny-apparently windows mail does not support pop3
(ntlworld) but I do not wish to change my email address-and, I liked O.E.Cab
I change back to XP?

Windows Mail certainly does support POP3. Go to your ISP's website, user
forums, or call their tech support to see how to set Windows Mail for POP3.
Or use a different, better email client such as Thunderbird.

I think it's rather silly to dump the operating system for this issue, but
of course this is *your* computer and you can do what you want with it.
Here is general information about replacing Vista with XP:

A. On an OEM (HP, Sony, etc.) computer:

1. Go to the OEM's website and look for XP drivers for your specific model
computer. If there are no XP drivers, then you can't install XP. End of
story. If there are drivers, download them and store on a CD-R or USB
thumbdrive; you'll need them after you install XP.

2. Check with the OEM - either from their tech support website or by calling
them - to see if you will void your warranty if you do this. If you will
void the warranty, you make the decision.

3. If the OEM does support XP on the machine, call them and see if you can
have downgrade rights and have them send you an XP restore disk. This will
be far the easiest and best way of getting XP on the machine.

4. If XP is supported on the machine but the OEM doesn't have an XP restore
disk for you, understand that you'll need to purchase a retail copy of XP
from your favorite online or brick/mortar store.

5. Also understand that you will need to do a clean install of XP so if you
have any data you want, back it up first.

6. If none of the above is applicable to you because you can't run XP on
that machine (see Item #1 above), return the computer and purchase one
running XP instead.

B. On a generic/home-built computer (from non-OEM company) - You will need
drivers for all your hardware. See the second link below for more details:

Sorry, that's not at all correct. It *does* support POP3. Check with
your ISP for the settings necessary.
