OS and applications snapshots for comparison

  1. Hi all,

I want to be able to run something against a configured server to
capture settings and configuration which I can then run at a later
date or against other servers in order to report on differences.... I
have looked at SCCM desired config manager, but that has to be built
up from scratch and will be a lot of effort..

e.g. if we had 20 exchange servers for example and have a baseline
configuration, I want to be able to report on the servers to see what
    is different between them..

Does anyone do anything similar? or know of software which would do
    this?

    Thanks

  2. Hello mark@markheathcote.com,

Maybe some free tools like this:
    http://www.lansweeper.com/

    http://www.pxserver.com/WinAudit.htm

    Also google for:
    hardware and software inventory freeware

    Best regards
