I just tried to open a file with Photo Gallery and it would not work. How do I upgrade or use it again. I have Dell windows 7 Laptop. I am using (have been using) this program to save results of Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Free scans. Am unsure how to update it.
I have always used photo gallery and now it will not work. What can I do????

You are aware that Malwarebytes' latest version no longer works on Windows 7. Therefore, it is pointless to save scan results.

No, I was not aware of that and wondered why it suddenly stopped working. Thank you for telling me.

    Well, this has gone off-topic.
Malwarebytes still works with Windows 7 - you just need to be updated to Windows 7 SP-1.

To find out if your OS has been updated, right-clickk the "Computer" icon on your desktop and select Properties.

You missed emphasis on latest version. If he tries to update, he will get a popup saying MBAM doesn't work with the OS and to update it. Meaning change the version of Windows.
Make sure you are running 5.3.7.209 component package 139.0.5357. This is the last version to work with Windows 7.

It is also pointless to save scan results. If it finds nothing, good. If it finds something, let MBAM quarantine the item/items.
The dashboard has also changed again. To find the version you are running, click the ? and then About Malwarebytes.

I finally decided there is no real point in taking a screen shot if there are no threats found in scan.

The snipping tool does not have a dependency on photo gallery. I NEVER downloaded and installed photo gallery and my snipping tool works.

Click on the orb in the lower left corner, then click on Default Programs on the right pane of the pop-up.
In the Window that appears, click the 2nd choice: Associate a file type or protocol with a program.
Be patient because it takes time to load all the file extensions.

Look over the list. When you see Photo Gallery listed, highlight the entry and click the button at the top right that says Change Program. You want Windows Photo Viewer not Photo Gallery.

Open the Snipping Tool. If you don't have a shortcut, it is found under Accessories. Click on it to open it. Then you should see a box with the words "Drag the cursor around the area you want to capture".

Maybe I will get up the nerve and courage to try and fix the Window Snipping Tool. Maybe I should make a written notebook list of logins. I never did that, although I have seen it suggested, because I must have thought it was easier to just snap a picture. But now for some unknown reason many have stopped working. And I am unsure how to fix that.

Re: My Last: The snipping tool does work. It is just that the Photo Gallery cannot open the picture. How can I fix this?

You can't fix photo gallery; it is no longer supported.

If PhotoGallery will no longer work with Windows 7 then how can I make a viewable copy of a document or picture?

After you snip the picture and change the name from CAPTURE.jpg to something else that you remember, right click the picture and select "open with". Remove PhotoGallery as the choice and replace it with Windows Photo Viewer or Paint or Firefox.

If you have IrfanView, you can also choose that. But your best bet is either Windows Photo Viewer or Paint.
