opening a file with the ending of .pages

    is there something that needs to be added or downloaded in order for me to
    open a file with the ending .pages? I received an attachment from a reliable
    source with this ending and cannot open it.

    And this 'reliable source' has told you they created it in *what*
    application?

    To add to what I said before, if you are too embarrassed to ask the original
    sender of the document (reliable source)...

    Which leads me to believe your best hope will be to ask the macintosh user
    (reliable source) to save it in a less proprietary format before sending it
