'Open Office' software - a query

I'm not truly complaining here - after all, it's free!! - but do wonder if others are perhaps having similar woes with 'Open Office'.

It's always been slow opening, so that's not a problem ... but so so so so often it freezes, especially if I've added images among the text. Granted, it repairs itself next time one tries to open it - but because I often work with literally dozens of documents in a day, loose an incredible amount of time coping with these glitches. I've even uninstalled and reloaded from their site - and still the glitches.

Anyone else have the same or similar problems, I wonder? - or have any tricks to get past the problems, perhaps?
