Norton AntiVirus Live Update Disabled

I am having problems with my Nortons AntiVirus Live Update. When I click the Live Update button, it appears to go out and attempt to access the Symantec site, but it fails.

When I try to simply to browse to any of the Norton or Symantec sites I get a message saying "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" and on my tool bar is says... "Cannot find server"

Is it possible that a Virus of some sort would disable access to the live update site? I have check in the "Restricted Sites" area of Internet Explorer and no sites are Restricted.

There is a couple virus that disable anti-virus software and updates for them. You might want to try one of the online virus scanners to scan your system.

 

Symantec also offers defination updates manually: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html though if a virus is taking out the LiveUpdate, its probably going to be restricting what NAV is doing as well.
