    Hello,

A recent update of my Firefox browser to version 3.0.10 has rendered it useless, as it will not stay open more than 30 seconds or so, even when started from a fresh profile with no add ons.

Has anyone heard of a fix in the works for this heinous breakage of my favorite browser???

    Thanks, Ray Parrish

I was about to say that is a very old version of FF until I read the subtitle. I don't know anything about Linux but can you restore the system to a point before the new version install?

Something I forgot to add here; Welcome back Ray! :D

There is no system restore in Ubuntu, but you are supposedly able to roll back, and lock down a program to a previous version number. When I tried it with Firefox, it removed Firefox entirely, leaving only the profile information, and I was sans browser other than Chrome, and Seamonkey.

I was able to download, and manually install the previous version of Firefox from Source Forge, but installing in this manner in Linux keeps that program from ever getting updated by the package manager software, so all updates for it become a manual process.

Oddly enough, Firefox is now running without crashing, but also without sound from You Tube videos at the moment. Very odd. I just looked, and it does not seem to have all of the plug ins that it had before that dealt with flash.

Now if I could just remember how to get Firefox to fetch the missing plug ins I would be set.

I have also realized that that version of Firefox is the one I reverted to, not the current newest version for Ubuntu.

    Later, Ray Parrish
