Hi Rustys and welcome to Computer Help Forums.
I have to agree with you in this instance. I suffer terribly from the white glare.
I suggest a very light colour instead of the white.
I am sure the Owner and Staff will take this into consideration when they read your post.
    Enjoy your stay with us.:)

You can toggle styles it's on the bottom of the page. I would like a different default style as well for the forums in general.

Welcome aboard and as IceMan suggests if you look at the left side on the colored bar on your forum page ver bottom bar you will see a name like "CHF Default" and if you run your cursor over that y6ou will see "style fixer" which allows for quite a few border changes and I never realized they are all while styles for the forum contents. We will see what can be done about that and thanks for bringing that to our attention.

That does not change this part of the page just the title bar.

That would be a nice color smooth soft.

Yes I agree. If you open a thread there, the colours are so easy on the eyes.
I have had 2 new lens replacements in my eyes 2 yrs ago and I suffer badly from the white glare.
I really like this skin however if the white could be changed to a soft Hex colour it would help a lot of aged people with poor eyesight.

Have any staff approched the owner whether it is possible to get rid of this glaring white for something easier on the eyes?

    Here are two examples.

Even a dark grey would be nice.

The ones who started this want other than white background and I sort of understand this....I don't think black or charcoal is the answer either though.
Soft pastels like Apricot or Peach might solve the issue.

Would have to see it in play to see how it is.

Right now I am trying the CHF D Fixed 1080 Grey which is not that bad. Yes I have turned down the brightness on the monitor.

I brought this all up in Duffy's long ago. I didn't get anywhere really. Umar had mentioned that he was seeing mostly mobile users visiting the site and that needed a smaller default scheme (992) but my point was that this was mostly a computer oriented site despite who may be visiting net side. What I asked for was a better default color forum scheme, and at 1080p and a wide width by default also. The new gray alternate scheme looks "ok" but the other colors within that scheme don't mesh well with the gray background, and my point was to change the "default scheme" that was visible the to net to make it look better to outsiders that might want to join the site and easy on the eyes too, and more pleasing colors as well.
