    These are my current specs:
CPU: Intel Quad Core 2.33ghz Q8200
    MOBO: Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR
    RAM: 2 X 2GB (4GB) Corsair Ram DDR3 (Dual Channel) (Model Number: CM3X2G1333C9D)
    G Card: Nvidea 9800GT
    PSU: 650WT (Coller Master)
    Case: Thermaltake Armor MX+
    CPU Cooling Fan: Titan Fenrir

I want to get a good cpu that can overclock to about 3.5ghz more would be better but 3.5 is great.
Im not sure whether to get a really good duel core a good quad an i5 or an i7 (not the really expensive i7's though) Could you give me a option from each. Here is where i will buy them from so choose which one would be best.

Would i have to replace my motherboard or is that good for overclocking?
And if i get a new cpu will that stop the MOBO or ram from working?

    Computer Brand or Motherboard:
ASUS - are there any others worth buying?
    CPU:
Q6600 at 4.0Ghz per core (Watercooled)
    Memory:
    OCZ PC8500 4x1GB sticks
    Hard Drive:
    Samsung - all the way
    Graphics Card:
    XFX 260GTX rev 1
    Power Supply:
    Seasonic 600Watt
In all honesty the only thing in your current spec that is bottlenecking your system is the CPU, its not a bad CPU but its not an overclocking chip, you would be much better buying another quad rather than spending £500+ on a new CPU, MOBO combo

i5 chips are only 4 core, i7 are 8 core 4x physical and 4x logical, both are still very pricey with the i5 being around £250 and the i7 at around £500

Your Quad at stock speeds would beat a Dual Core overclocked CPU easily.
I would wait until the prices for the i5 or i7 chips come down and then maybe look into it then

How long would that take about 6 months?

It depends, normally when the technology is no longer considered 'the forefront' of technology so yes it will be within 6 months as Intel and AMD have new chips on the way ;)
