Does the Desktop fill out the entire screen? Does the Metro screen fill the entire screen? How about applications like Weather, Photos, etc.

This problem could be a compatability issue.
See in IE whether the web page displays correctly running no "add ons"
    Here is how.

    Open Internet Explorer.

Tap or click the Tools button, and then tap or click Manage add-ons.

Under Show, tap or click All add-ons, and then do one of the following:

To disable an add-on, tap or click it, and then tap or click Disable.

To enable an add-on, tap or click it, and then tap or click Enable.

    Tap or click Close

Hi. How was windows 8 installed eg; A copy of Windows8 you made an ISO yourself or did you actually buy an OS install disc from Microsoft?
I have done many installs and never encountered this problem.

In addition to DSTM's questions: Have you tried maximizing the Internet Explorer screen? Click the icon to the left of the X at the top right corner.

Also try downloading and using another browser like Firefox or Google's Chrome to see if they exhibit the same narrow screen.

Hi.You say the computer is new.
Take it back and get them to fix the problem.
It will be under warranty unless it was a backyard build.:)

Thanks for that, that was going to be my next option if I couldn't find a easy fix. Thanks again for your help.
