My Motherboard Is Not Working Or My Psu I Cant Tell!

Im not sure what to do. I had a CPU error bsod before hand. I assumed it was my cpu fan because it was a trouble fit. So i exchanged the cpu fan i bought with the standard cpu and afterwards my computer would all start up and everything is operational or lit up. All the fans, harddrive, cpu fan, motherboarrd, psu, and graphics card, everything. But my computer mouse, keyboard, and monitors (i have 2 monitors 1 running on hdmi and 1 running on standard cable with a dvi converter). So i bought a new cpu assuming that it was the problem and put it in and i still have the same problem. Im assuming that my computers cpu BSOD is now fixed but i think i caught another problem along the process of switching my cpu fans. I dont know what i did really but i DID HAVE TO UNSCREW MY MOBO AND EVERYTHING ELSE TO GET THE CPU FAN OFF. So i mightve damaged or touched something i shouldnt have. So if anyone knows an idea of what mightve gone wrong please inform me.

I suggest that you strip the motherboard of all hardware and connections - down to the 20(4) way connection from the PSU.

Assuming that you have an internal speaker ....you should get POST beeps.
No POST indicates a motherboard or PSU problem.

 

i dont have an internal speaker at most i can use earbuds. I have a usb wirless logtiech gameset tgat probably wont work because of my current problem. Ill probably try out earbuds and see if i hear beeps.

 

The normal beep code only goes to an on board speaker if one is fitted, the normal sound system and earphone or speaker sockets will not work at the point in time when the beep or beeps should be heard, so no point in trying earphones.
if no speaker is fitted on board all we can go on is very little such as fans starting up.

fans do start up and all the lights are functioning on the motherboard. It seems all the usb ports work besides the times i plug in pereferals. not sure what is causing the problem....

 

Just a few questions;

Which USB ports are you plugging these peripherals into?
If it is the front panel ones (on front or top of the computer case) have you double checked the USB cable is connected to the motherboard from that panel?

If the computer boots properly with the USB devices not connected, do those USB devices work when the PC is booted up and then plugging them in?

I can't check at the minute but there is some options in the BIOS about USB devices, on my Asus board a picklist option like "legacy mode" is mentioned (if I remember right), see if you can change the settings in your BIOS about USB devices.

 

my usbs are connected in the back. And i tried both the back and front and it didnt work. But it seems when i use a usb or external harddrive it lights up and works. Plus my monitor doesnt work so theres no way forsure if my computer even boots at all. So not sure what to do there

 

Is the monitor plugged into the graphics card or motherboard?
Have you tried plugging just one of the monitors (and removing the other for now) into the motherboard if possible?

And if the motherboard does have display outputs, have you tried removing the graphics card?

Even if the graphics card fan turns on it won't mean it is working correctly, so may be why your not getting a display on your monitor, even leaving the graphics card in and plugging display cables into the motherboard will still cause the monitor to not display anything.

 

Are you saying the USB devices (Keyboard/Mouse) do not work when in Windows or in the BIOS/POST screens
try a PS2 keyboard/mouse and see if they work

I have had issues with Logitech and other USB keyboards/mice not being recognised within certain BIOS's regardless of the USB settings changed in the BIOS
