Hey i have a asus x55 i think thats the model anyway, running windows 8. I have had it for about a month but i dropped within a week of having it but everything was working fine well for a couple of hours anyway until i restarted it and deciding not too boot up windows and it just goes straight to Aptio setup utility and did for a while until it decided to work again. it worked perfect for 2 week until i tried turning it back on this morning and it is doing the same but i can not figer out why it does it.

I am afraid there are just too many variables here. If you dropped the thing it may well be that something has come loose. My first thought is that the Hard Drive is not making contact all of the time. Try removing the power and battery and then reseating the drive and see if that helps. The same may be true for a number of hardware components. If it is a hardware problem that needs hands on repair you may have to take it back. You have a warranty and we do not want you to touch anything that would void it.

This is another that has posted on FpcH
    I have replied there too. ( 6-51 PM )

If it is jumping directly into the BIOS it could be a sticking DEL / F2 key

Suggested removing RAM and HDD and replacing.

    Suggested "Last Known good Configuration"

The bleeping noise is probably from the motherboard (Bios) and indicates there may not be a hard drive that is recognized. That may be where your hardware fault lies.

In addition to the comments and advice above. The beeping noise you hear when booting is your computers way of letting you know that there is a problem, and the number of beeps could point us towards where the problem lies.

Are they short or long beeps?
Are they continuous? And if not, how many beeps do you hear?

I may be wrong, but I think your laptop comes with an Intel motherboard. If that is the case then the link below may help you narrow down the cause of your problem.

3 beeps can either be RAM or Video ( depending on the sequence and the bios ...... 1 long 2 short for instance )

If the hard drive is the only fault your machine will POST normally ( 1 beep ) then try to boot up.

Try taking the RAM out like I suggested earlier and run them one at a time.

You may be able to have ASUS fix it. I bought an ASUS about a year ago. It came with one year accidental damage warrantee. I did have to register it to get the one year accidental damage warrantee.
