Well I finished my build today, my camera ran out of battery's about half way through, so i did not get that many pictures. but so far this computer fly's. I have a 6.8 on the windows performance(my video card scored the lowest with a 6.8 everything else was a 7) I still need another power supply but it is going with the one i have. I don't recomend getting an artic cooler fan/heatsink unless it has the metal plate to attach, It was such a pain in the butt to get installed.

This is a list of everything I got.

Antec 300 with the power supply(which i should have not bothered with and just gotten the 900)

    gigabyte- ep45-ud3p motherboard

intel core 2 quad Q9550 with the E0 stepping

    XFX Radeon HD 4870

3 Rosewell 120 mm Case fans

Artic Cooler Freezer 7 pro fan/heatsink

    Corsair XMS2 2x 2gb modules

Oh, if you only knew how impressed I am, Patrick! (Actually a bit mind-boggled :)). I still get nervous taking the cover off and cleaning the inside of the tower thoroughly every month - and then there's magicians like you that actually build these things - wow!

It took awhile but it is done. my only problem is my case looks like spaggheti, I have no room on my power cables to do any good routing so I am going to pick up a new modular power supply next pay day. I am also going to pick up an adapter to turn my heatsink/fan into one with a metal bracket those cheap little plastic connectors are horrible. I am no magician I had no idea what i was doing when i started, but every one here talked me through it, and helped me pick out everything i needed. I will take some more pictures now that my camera is charged, so every one can see more of it.

Well done Patrick. I too would like to see more more Pics, when you have time.
In Post 1 you ran a performance Test.
Would you have a link to the Test,so I can see how my Computer shapes up?
    Thanks Patrick.:)

The test is just a windows test on windows 7 it is at <Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools> I took some more pictures but i have to wait for my brother to get here, with his external all in one reader, since this comp does not have a all in one card reader.

    Patrick,

After looking at this the CPU cooler needs turning to that the cooler blows air through the back of the heatsink and out the back of the case not the top.

its a learning curve........I have been there

    Hello Patrick,

It's blowing heat , not out of the case but upwards. All heat matters and makes a difference.

You want the heat blown out of the case not towards the top of it remaining inside.

That's why Dalo is the Advanced Technical Specialist..., I would do as he suggests...

Patrick the way that cooler is designed is that it also cools the capacitors around the CPU socket and the way yours is rotated at the moment it cannot do that.

In regards to the flow of air, cold air comes in the front of your case and rises up as it gets warmer, the issue with having the fan pointing up is that it only supplies warm air from around the GPU and blows that over your CPU as opposed to the colder air that comes from the front of the case

I changed it so it blows to the back of the case, but now my cpu idles at 38 c, compared to the 33c it was idling at.

When you turned it did you remove and Replace the thermal paste?

For that size chip you need about as much thermal paste as a grain of rice - how much did you use?

Also let the paste settle and the temps will drop

I only used about a grain of rice, same amount as i used the first time I put the heatsink on. I will give it a week and see if the temps drop to where they were at.

Based on your earlier configuration it is clear that the change had to be made. It is quite possible that air was flowing in such a way as to cool the cpu a bit but that does not make it right.

Forcing more hot air to the top will necessarily mean that heat will eventually increase throughout the case and effect all of the hardware. I do not know what temp that cpu should be at and if it is becomes too high then we will search for a reason but the change was proper.

well it was blowing into the top exhaust fan(you can look through the fan and see the heatsink right there), and there are capacitors on 3 sides of the cpu so it was still cooling some of them. but I will wait a week and see if it will cool down some. I still have another week before, I attempt to do any over clocking.
